I am first and foremost a yoga student.

I am also a teacher, but my approach to yoga is still that of a beginner who is eager to make some sense of the different yoga traditions, pranayama, meditation and yoga philosophy. On this blog I share my personal experiences with yoga and all things related.

I have a good foundation of Hatha yoga but Ashtanga Vinyasa is the style that is closest to my heart. I practice Mysore the way that Patabbhi Jois taught it, but my approach is more intuitive and I use modifications, variations and other styles in my own practice. I think the Primary Series is a beautiful moving mediation that teaches me valuable lessons both on and off the mat, but I have come to realise that my practice needs to be softer and not quite as rigid as traditional Ashtanga.

In my approach to yoga, asana (physical poses) are only a small part. I try to incorporate all the eight limbs of yoga into my life. As my life is a western life, my understanding of the eight limbs of yoga is of course also western and very down to earth. My western lifestyle that comes with a demanding job also means that I don’t have a daily asana practice. I try to have a ‘every-other-day-practice’ and practice other sides of yoga every day. You might see me in a queue in the supermarket concentrating on lifting my knee caps or at my office desk doing pranayama, but you will never see me in orange yogi clothes.

When I’m not on the mat I work with social media so this blog is also my way of practicing what I preach when I encourage politicians and organisations to share their passions on the web.

I am writing this blog in English as I hope that some of the wonderful yogis that I’ve met on my yoga travels will take a look and share their experiences with me. I also hope that people who are interested in yoga and all things related - no matter where they’re from - will have a look. If you’re Danish I hope that the English doesn’t put you off. You’re very welcome to comment in Danish.

I'd love to stay in touch with you through Omshanti.dk's Facebook page. You can also follow me on Bloglovin' or find me on Twitter.

Om shanti.
